Champion of Champions Fours

The Champion of champion fours was played between Swifts and IUS.  It was an exciting game, with Swifts getting off to a good start. On 18th end the score was even at 17 all, but the Swift ladies of J.Camplin, E.Stacey, R.Brockie, S.Hardy came out winners........26-17 over I.U.S team. Congratulations to the winners.

Champion of Champions Pairs

The 2011 Champion of Champion Pairs was won by Leslie Behnke and Andrea Ott of Swifts. Swifts got off to a great start, but were quickly caught up by the IUS pair of Tinie Pearce and Marie Lipp.
Again Swifts pulled away and went on to win 20-15. Congratulations to Lesley and Andrea.

 

 

 

Champion of Champions Singles

The spectators witnessed some great singles bowls in the ladies champion of champion today. In the tightly contested semi-final, Julie Ezzy went down to Eryn Brightwell. The final between Eryn and Wilma proved to be a swinging game with each player taking the lead on several occasions. In the final few ends some terrific bowls were played by both players.

Wilma played a bomb on the last end to capture the two shots she needed to win the game 25-22. Well done Wilma.

 

 

 

 

2010 Events:

District Champion of Champions Ladies Pairs:

The Champion of Champion Pairs was won by Eryn Brightwell and Helen Wood-Bradley of Darra-Cementco. It was a well contested final and the Algester pair of Pat Jamieson and Pam Botterill fought well to reach the final. Congratulations to all the ladies who entered.

Update! In the Zone play-offs of the Ladies Champion of Champions held at South Tweed Bowls Club, CDBA representatives Eryn Brightwell and Helen Wood Bradley won the pairs 28 to 12.  They then went onto the State Finals at Bribie Island Bowls Club on 25/26 October, where they achieved a win in the first round.  Although they were defeated in the second round, it was a commendable effort.

District Champion of Champions Ladies Singles:

A great display of draw bowls by both players was witnessed by all in the final of the Champion of Champions Singles.

Congratulations to Helen Wood-Bradley from Darra Cementco who triumphed 25-17 over Moorooka's Wilma Hopkins. Thanks to Algester for their hospitality to all the ladies for the two days, for having the green in top condition and for supplying markers and umpires.

 

 

District Champion of Champions Ladies Fours

Congratulations to the Salisbury team of Helen Henderson, Gloria Hage, Joyce Wainwright and skip Fay Wilden who earned the Champion of Champion fours title for Cunningham District for 2010.
They led comfortably for 12 ends of the game and then the Moorooka team of Pam Winterbottom, Denise Fowler, Wilma Hopkins and Marcia Macoun fought back strongly to get within 5 shots on the sixteenth end.
