Aug 29: Zone play-offs Ladies Champion of Champions held at South Bowls Club - Congratulations to Eryn Brightwell and Helen Wood Bradley who won the pairs 28 to 12.  They now go onto the State Finals being held at Bribie Island Bowls Club between 25th and 30th October.  Also competing were Helen Wood Bradley in the singles, and Helen Henderson, Gloria Hage, Joyce Wainwright and Fay Wilden of Salisbury in the fours, but unfortunately these teams were unsuccessful.

The Men's District Singles Champion of Champions is Des Cann Jnr of Jindalee Club who beat Chris Mudd of Swifts 25 to 13

Aug 22: Gateway Challenge - The Cunningham Ladies fought to the end to go down by six shots to a determined team of Gateway Ladies (119 to 113). There were some excellent bowls played by both sides and the game was enjoyed immensely by all. Thanks to the manager, Netta, to the Ladies President, Jill, and Dulcie Frost for all her help with setting up the score boards and collating the scores. Many thanks President Marlene and the IUS ladies.
Aug 13: Ladies Champion of Champions Fours Final - Congratulations to the Salisbury team of Helen Henderson, Gloria Hage, Joyce Wainwright and skip Fay Wilden who earned the Champion of Champion fours title for Cunningham District for 2010.
They led comfortably for 12 ends of the game and then the Moorooka team of Pam Winterbottom, Denise Fowler, Wilma Hopkins and Marcia Macoun fought back strongly to get within 5 shots on the sixteenth end. The Salisbury team found their rhythm again and went on to win to win 26-17.  See Photo Album Page
Proposed By Law for written selection policy and criteria which shall apply to both men’s and ladies teams.  This policy will be placed before the next Council Meeting 14th September 2010.
Aug 8: Men's Champion of Champions Pairs: Curtis Black and Aaron Jones from Algester (23) defeated Peter Stollznow and Judd Percy from Salisbury (13) in the final held at Moorooka today.  Congratulations to all involved.
Aug 6: District Ladies Champion of Champions Pairs: The Champion of Champion Pairs was won by Eryn Brightwell and Helen Wood-Bradley of Darra-Cementco. It was a well contested final and the Algester pair of Pat Jamieson and Pam Botterill fought well to reach the final. Congratulations to all the ladies who entered.

July 30: District Ladies Champion of Champion Singles: A great display of draw bowls by both players was witnessed by all in the final of the champion of champion singles. Congratulations to Helen Wood-Bradley from Darra Cementco who triumphed 25-17 over Moorooka's Wilma Hopkins. Thanks to Algester for their hospitality to all the ladies for the two days, for having the green in top condition and for supplying markers and umpires.

July 26: Result of Men's Champion of Champions Fours: Congratulations to Algester, defeating Salisbury by 18 to 15, and advancing to the Zone play offs.

Congratulations to the Cunningham Ladies on their great effort on Sunday 4th July at the Downs Challenge. In their first game the team was victorious by a margin of 16 and up by 10 in the second game. That gave them an overall victory over the Downs by a margin of 26. The Ladies Committees of Cunningham are very proud of the team and their victory returned the shield to the District for another year. Many thanks to Netta Gehrke who managed the team and to Yvonne Kelly for organising the ladies. Well done Ladies
July 12: District Mixed Pairs 2010 - Congratulations to the winners of the Mixed Pairs, Marcia Macoun and Kevin Higson from Moorooka.  Runners up were Joanne Kane and Kevin Fuller from IUS. See Photos....

July 4: Men's District Singles Final: The winner was Ken Evans of IUS who defeated John Rowley, Swifts, 25/17 in a good match played in a generous spirit. Congratulations to both and thanks once again to IUS for its continuing support.  Photos on Photo Album Page
June 29:  CDBA Junior Singles - This event was held for the first time in a number of years on 26th June at Moorooka and was a very successful day.  The competition was sectional, with the final being played between Mitchell Meares from Algester and Cohen Litfin of IUS.  In a game worthy of a final, Mitchell won a close contest 25 - 22 and was presented with a Perpetual Shield donated by Carol Reardon

Mitchel is 11yrs and Cohen is 14yrs.  Congratulations to both players.  Photos of the event can be found on the Photo Album Page
June 23: The final of the District Ladies Singles has been played at Jindalee.  Congratulations to Estelle Janke, who defeated Eryn Brightwell in a close match, 25 - 24.

Results of Men's District Pairs: Congratulations to the players in the Men's District Pairs, with Des Cann (Jnr) and Jay Cross of Jindalee defeating Jim Flower and Craig Warren of Algester 22-21 in a game worthy of any final. Photos are available on the Photo Album Page

May 14:

Cunningham District Ladies teams who played in the recent District Sides achieved third place in Division 2.    

CDBA Men's District teams played in the Division 4 finals. 

 

Apr 19: Congratulations to the winners of the Men's District Fours 2010 - Greg Robbie's Algester team 2010 Men's District Fours Finalistsof Greg, Darryl, Todd and Tristian - and runners-up team also from Algester skipped by Martin Carloss.   In another very close final, the match was decided on an extra end, with the score of 18 - 17.  A truly excellent game throughout played in excellent spirit. Unfortunately one had to come second.
The District wishes to congratulate and thank IUS for supporting and conducting the tournament free from any problems
Apr 15: Pennant Conditions for Ladies and Men have been revised.  The draft copy is reproduced here for your perusal.  This is the draft for a combined Men's and Ladies 'Conditions of Play', which is to be discussed
for ratification at the next Council Meeting on the 18th May 2010.

Apr 14: Congratulations to the winners of the Ladies District Pairs 2010 - Debbie Farley and Beryl Winners Debbie Farley and Beryl Blackwell, with Graham Jones and Jill HikoroaBlackwell from Algester - and runners up Andrea Ott and Lesley Benhke from Swifts. The final result was 18 -17 after an extra end.
