Continuing education is an important part of every Umpire’s professional development and a requirement for re-accreditation.

This is an important opportunity for all to participate in lively discussion on any aspect of umpiring that you might like to raise, whether it be Law Book interpretation, umpiring decisions, procedures, use of equipment etc.

There will be a short introduction covering:

bullet

Updates to ensure that those in attendance have their Law Books up to date with all the latest amendments

bullet

Upcoming review of the Law Book by Bowls Australia

bullet

A look at whether Umpires are becoming an "Endangered Species"

bullet

Upcoming courses planned by CDBA Umpires Panel for the rest of 2010

·        The rest of the night will cover discussion of issues raised by those attending.

It is not intended that this night will be a lecture on the Laws of the Game, but a general discussion night where questions can be raised from the floor and openly discussed by everyone attending; so come along, bring your questions and ideas and make this night a success.

NOTE: There is no need to advise of your intention to attend – just come along on night!

Notice for Umpires

All Bowls Clubs need Umpires. Umpire numbers within CDBA are falling, and this is placing an increasing burden on those Umpires who never like to say “No” when asked to umpire a game. If you are interested in learning more about the Laws of the Sport of Bowls, consider becoming an Umpire and attending an L1 Umpires course in 2010.

To all those L1 Umpires who need to re-accredit before 31st December 2010, a number of L1 Umpires Courses will be run throughout 2010 to enable you to re-accredit and retain your National Umpire Status. New Umpires and re-accrediting Umpires both do the same course and complete the same tests. Re-accrediting Umpires, however, may choose to do an Oral test, whereas new umpires must do a written test.

For further information, contact Barry Gabel - Ph 07 3715 8804 07 3715 8804 or Email gabel_b@iprimus.com.au
